Going into the Spam Filters options:
Log into SquirrelMail, either through QMail or Courier, depending on
which type of email account you have. Once you are logged in, you will need to click on the Spam Filters
link up at the top of the main page.

Selecting the desired level of protection:
On the new page that comes up, you will be given several options of protection. For most people, it is recommended that
you select Strict. Once you have selected your protection level, click Next.
This will make the selected protection level active, and take you to a page where you can review what it does.

Configuring the Filters:
Now that you have selected the type of protection, it is time to configure it. For the Strict
level, there are four filters, two of which you can configure. They are Always From and
Only To Me. You can start off by clicking on Aliases for
Only To Me.

Setting up Aliases:
Allowed Recipients allows you to reject any email that is not sent directly to your email
address. Although it may look like you received someone else's spam email somehow, it was still directed to you, as
your email address may have been included in the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) field in that email.
By only accepting email that is directly sent to you, you will be able to decrease the amount of spam that reaches
your inbox. It is recommended that addresses for any mailing lists you are on go in here. To add an email address
to the Allowed Recipients list, simply type an email address and click on Update.
If you have inadvertently mistyped an address, or would like to remove one, simply click on the checkbox next to
that address, and click on Update

Setting up Allowed Senders:
Email addresses that are listed in Allowed Senders will always be delivered to your
inbox, and will not be passed through any filters. For the most part, you shouldn't have to add any addresses
to this list. If there are people that you absolutely must receive email from, such as a coworker or employer,
it is recommended that you enter their addresses here. To add an email address to the Allowed
Senders list, simply type an email address and click on Update. If you have
inadvertently mistyped an address, or would like to remove one, simply click on the checkbox next to that address,
and click on Update
